Privacy Policy

Effective: 2026-05-25

In plain English

  • No email, password, or name is required to use Moneta.
  • We store your home currency and favorites in the cloud so they sync across your devices. That's it.
  • Price Lens runs on your device. The camera frame is never uploaded.
  • We do not sell your data, embed third-party advertising, or train AI on it.

Who we are

Moneta is built and operated by Alexander Kashubin, a sole trader based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan (the "Company", "we", "us"). Contact: alex@monetacurrency.com.

Scope

This policy covers the Moneta mobile application for iOS and Android (the "Application") and the monetacurrency.com website (the "Website"). Together they are the "Service".

What we collect and why

Anonymous account identifier

The Application uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication. On first launch an opaque, randomly-generated user ID is created on your device and registered with Firebase. No email, password, phone number, or name is collected. The ID exists so your preferences can sync if you reinstall the Application or use it on a second device.

App preferences (stored in your Firestore document)

When you change settings in the Application we save them in your private Firestore document keyed by your anonymous user ID. These fields are:

These fields are not shared with third parties beyond the cloud-hosting providers identified below.

Diagnostic and usage data

To understand which features people use and to fix bugs, the Application sends anonymous events (such as which screen you opened or which button you tapped) and crash reports. These events are associated with your anonymous user ID, never with your name, email, or contact information. IP addresses may be processed transiently by analytics providers for fraud prevention and approximate geo-location; we do not store them in identifiable form.

Camera (Price Lens)

If you use the Price Lens feature, the Application asks for camera permission. The video frame is processed on your device by Google ML Kit text recognition to detect the printed price. Neither the image nor the detected number is uploaded to our servers or to any third party.

Push notifications

The Application includes Firebase Cloud Messaging. If you grant notification permission, your device receives a push token issued by Apple or Google; that token is associated with your anonymous user ID so we can send you a message (for example, a rate-update alert) if we ever need to. You can revoke notification permission at any time in your operating-system settings.

Subscription receipts

If you purchase Moneta Plus, the App Store or Google Play handles the payment. The transaction receipt is passed to RevenueCat to verify your entitlement. We never receive or store your payment-card details, name, or billing address. The only information we receive is whether your Plus entitlement is currently active. On iOS, RevenueCat uses Apple's AdServices attribution token to attribute the install (this is anonymous and required for Apple-to-RevenueCat attribution).

Feedback you send us

If you use the in-app feedback form, your message is stored in our Firestore database and forwarded by email to the developer so we can respond. If you choose to provide an email address for a reply, we keep it for the purpose of replying to you and nothing else.

Third-party processors we use

We use the following vendors to operate the Service. Each processes data on our behalf under their own privacy terms:

What we do not do

Cookies and similar technologies

The Website uses a minimal first-party cookie set by Google Analytics for anonymous, IP-anonymized analytics. The Application itself does not use cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.

Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases: performance of a contract (to deliver the Service you requested), our legitimate interests (to keep the Service running, prevent abuse, fix bugs, and understand usage in aggregate), your consent (for camera access and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time in your operating-system settings), and legal obligation (where we need to retain or disclose data to comply with law).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct, and limit use of sensitive personal information under the CCPA / CPRA. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

To exercise any right, email alex@monetacurrency.com. We will respond within 30 days. Because your account is anonymous, we may ask you to provide your in-app user ID (visible in the Application settings) so we can locate your record.

Data retention

We keep your preferences for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, the associated Firestore document is removed within 30 days of the request and from encrypted backups within 90 days. Aggregated analytics that no longer identify you may be retained for product improvement. Feedback messages are kept until you ask us to delete them.

International transfers

Our processors operate globally. Personal data may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where required by law we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or equivalent safeguards provided by the processor.

Security

Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in Google Cloud data centers with encryption at rest. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is completely secure.

Children

Moneta is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact alex@monetacurrency.com and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

The Service may link to third-party sites (such as the App Store and Google Play). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in the Application or on the Website.
